Craig dropped off this early ’90s Fender Jaguar (made in Japan) with a lot of dust and a few significant issues. The bridge was missing several saddle set screws; some were completely empty and some had been replaced with picture hanging hooks from Canadian Tire.
Mike from Sherwood Music came through with a handful of the odd metric sized grub screws these Japanese bridges use — fortunately all of the threaded saddles were present and in good shape.
The guitar also needed a complete rewire; the master volume and tone pots were both damaged, and so were some of the little plastic toggle switches. I completely disassembled the guitar and cleaned all of the chrome hardware with degreaser in an ultrasonic jewelery cleaner.
Everything came together relatively easily from there — unlike a lot of these Fender offsets, it did not require a shim in the neck pocket. It’s a great sounding and great playing instrument with a beautiful dark rosewood fretboard.
